Flat Lay 101
Flatlays are literally the savanasa pose of blogging. They look SO easy but actually take a lot of time and effort. Who woulda thought??
Whenever I look at a flatlay photo, it makes me laugh. Only because I know the crazy freaking amount of work that was put into such a simple concept. That gorgeous coffee on the table next to the computer with a flower in a corner and a gold accent just chilling is not a coincidence. Those items have been specifically and perfectly placed and photographed from 10 different angles and 30 different light settings.
This photography style has completely changed the blogger game.
SO, what makes a flatlay a gooooood flatlay? Your background is key.
Honestly, even just a white table or sheet can go a long ways. I decided to have a little fun and created my own background on an old coffee table I had hanging out in the corner of my apartment.
ANYWAYS, here we have a simple table with a marble top. Let’s get to decorating!

These are just all items from around the house. Flatlays are all about placing like colors together, and the way you take the photo really matters. A lot of my photos showed too much white space behind them, or they looked too close, or they looked too cluttered. So it’s just trial & error. Eventually you will have the perfect blogger-style flatlay.
